DIY Sugar Body Scrub Cubes

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of how this simple scrub works to give you glowing skin, you might ask yourself,  “What is a body scrub?”  It is an exfoliating cosmetic preparation, applied to the body to cleanse the skin. A body scrub is used to rid dry skin, hydrate and tighten your pores. The scrub reveals the new soft skin underneath the dry skin cells.

Scrubs usually consist of three basic ingredients: soap, an abrasive material and essential or natural oils. The abrasive substance is salt, sugar or rice which removes the dead skin cells. Oils are added in to help soothe, hydrate and reduce redness. Soap is the glue to the scrub; it holds everything together.

Sometimes using a scrub in the shower can be messy.  Here’s a body scrub cube recipe from Popsugar.com that’s quick and easy!

DIY Sugar Body Scrub Cubes (each cube lasts 2-3 showers)

You will need:

  • 1 bar of soap
  • 2 little colored soaps (optional)
  • ¼ cup oil (almond, coconut, jojoba, olive)
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • essential oil
  • silicone ice cube tray

Directions

Grate the soap bars into a bowl. This will make it easier to melt and mix together.

Add in the colored soaps (optional).

Add in the ¼ oil and mix together.

In the microwave heat up for 10 seconds, remove and stir, then reheat for 10 more seconds. Make sure the soap is liquified and combined.

Add in ¾ sugar and mix until completely combined.

Add in essential oil for fragrance (optional). Mix in.

Pack the mixture into silicone ice cube tray.

Place in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to compact scrub.

Put into a cute jar and store in your shower!
