Introducing “Listen Up, Kids!”

Mark September 14, 2014 in Cougar Radio history!  The very first “Listen Up, Kids!” show aired from 11-11:30 a.m. and it was a blast!

The half hour went by so quickly! Stories were read, tongue twisters were attempted, exercises were done and the kids were great additions to the show!

The show started out with introductions and a “Crazy Word” was chosen – leg.  Every time the kids heard the word leg, they’d go crazy dancing and singing!  Afterwards, Weird Science Facts were presented. We learned that bunnies and parrots see behind themselves without turning their heads.  We know that dinosaurs had tiny brains and butterflies taste with their feet. Also, you better get to cleaning your house because there’s lots of dead skin laying around.

Next up were the tongue twisters.  They were really hard! You try:

  • Good blood, bad blood. (say 10 times fast)
  • Three free throws. The instinct of an extinct insect stinks.
  • Comical economists. Comical economists.
  • Which wristwatches are Swiss wristwatches?
  • One-One was a racehorse. Two-Two was one, too. When One-One won one race,  Two-Two won one, too.

Then we did exercises based on the book by Eric Carle “From Head to Toe.”  Luca and Luke proved their flexibility!

The last segment featured the book “Walter the Farting Dog” by William Kotzwinkle, Glenn Murray and Audrey Colman.  This book was fabulous and really funny!  Even if you heard the show, be sure to pick up the book next time you are at the library.  The illustrations are worth it.

Listen Up every  Sunday from 10-11 a.m..  Luke promises to share Minecraft PE tips!
